Behind the Business: Content, Podcasts, and Books I’m Currently Consuming

It’s not news that reading, listening to podcasts, and in general consuming content is important to building knowledge, improving focus, and inspiring change and transformation.

I am constantly learning every single day from the content that I’m consuming. Each morning, I’m listening to a podcast and each night, I’m reading a book. Whether or not this content is directly correlated with what I do, all content provides your brain the mental break it needs.

So here’s my current list, as we jump into 2024, of my most recent or current reads, favorite podcasts and more. These aren’t sponsored, they’re truly my favorite recent reads and listens that have made an impact on my life!

Podcasts

  1. Today, Explained by Vox — this is a great news podcast with an interesting point of view on what’s going on daily. They’re also quick ~30 min episodes, which you can listen to while you’re eating breakfast or getting ready in the morning. This podcast keeps me incredibly informed on everything going on in the world.

  2. Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend by Team Coco — this is my favorite go-to for a laugh, it’s one of the funniest podcasts. This podcast features long-form fun interviews and is kind of like a Masterclass on how to interview people.

  3. The Heart Led Entrepreneur by Ankita Terrell — my friend started this podcast and it’s become one of my favorites to listen to! For all the ambitious entrepreneurs out there, this podcast is incredibly insightful and digs deep into creating a profitable business.

Newsletters

  1. Cubicle to CEO by Ellen Yin — this is one of the most informative newsletters for any business owner. Ellen covers all the topics you can imagine and has real conversations about real-life case studies with entrepreneurs all over to answer all the business Q’s you can’t answer on Google. It pairs well with her podcast that she does each week, too.

  2. A Note From the Universe — it’s kind of cheesy, but I really do love seeing these emails each day in my inbox to give me that extra little nudge! Each day, you receive “a note from the universe” with a motivational quote and daily reminder of life’s magic and your own power!

  3. The Morning Brew — this newsletter is simple, but so important. I like to always stay informed on anything that pertains to me, and this does just that. Each day, this newsletter sends the world’s most important business news, but in a witty and enjoyable way.

Books

  1. I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy — I read this book over the Christmas break while on the beach in Mexico and it was one of the most eye-opening and fantastic life-reads I have ever stumbled across.

  2. Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life by Vivian Tu — loved this book so much for the entrepreneurs who want to understand finances (whether business or personal) and get on a money-mindset that maximizes your earnings.

  3. The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters by Priya Parker — this isn’t a new book, but it’s very intuitive and eye-opening because you can connect to it so well. This draws on the importance of coming together whether it’s at home, at work, in our communities and beyond.
